require source file for images

Bug Description

Hello,

Nice materials there but we need to have the source files (for gimp or inkscape) to edit the images to use them in our own SpreadUbuntu activities.

No source : http://ubuntu.ec/su/drupal5/?q=en/content/hardy-party
With source : http://ubuntu.ec/su/drupal5/?q=en/content/highway-freedom

Spread Ubuntu have to _require_ the source file for the materials. Otherwise, there is no interest for sharing them in this website.

A very good idea.

I initially left it unrequried because i thought (and still think) that there is not "NO" purpose in sharing files without sources, but I now realize that it is not the purpose of this website.

I do not agree here. I see value in the material even if the source is not
available.

The ideal option would be to give the material WITH the source, but there is
more material out there without the source (as the viral effect of the
material do not always let the author know about the existence of
SpreadUbuntu) and this material is still useful in many cases.

So, I agree that we should encourage people to give the material source, but
not make it a requirement. Doing so implies that if you want to share cool
and inspiring material you found on the internet, you cannot do it even
though the license for it allows it. that would be a huge loss.

I rather have a cool image to tweak with inkscape and/or gimp then no image
at all!

R.

I understand that argument.

Perhaps it should be strongly urged, but I cannot think of a way to emphasize the importance of including the source to the casual submitter.

I would like to see as many materials as possible. However, since many of the materials that will be submitted are highly specialized, the material will be almost useless.

Example: http://ubuntu.ec/su/drupal5/files/poster2.jpg
It is in a specific language. Since there is no source, it cannot be translated.
It is designed for a specific release party, so there is no way for other release parties to use this material.
