Bug Description
When installing Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex Alpha 6 amd64 alternate, any configuration that uses LILO as boot loader leads to a kernel hang when booting from the hard drive. However, when GRUB is used as the boot loader, the install boots from the hard drive correctly.
This problem was discovered trying to install /boot on LVM, which causes the installer to use LILO.
Hardware:
cpu Intel Q6600
motherboard Intel dp35dp
When booting with LILO, the kernel hangs with the following message:
PANIC : early exception rip 10:ffffffff8022d581 error 0 cr2 ffffffffff5fc0f0
Some investigation suggests that this is related to this known problem:

Something similar happens on MacBook core2duo 2GHz and kernel 2.6.27-4. In this case the error message reads:
PANIC : early exception 0e rip 10:ffffffff8022d581 error 0 cr2 ffffffffff5fc0f0
The bad thing is that GRUB doesn't seem to work either, the machine just reboots after the "GRUB stage 1.5" message. So 2.6.27-4 is rendered completely unusable.
