Terry, it looks like you tried to run landscape-client (or even landscape-monitor) in the command line as yourself. Is this assumption correct?

If yes, that's not how landscape-client is supposed to run. It has an init script in /etc/init.d/landscape-client.

I did not run it directly myself. I actually noticed a message in console just before KDM came up and after logging in I received a notice from the crash notifier. I've not since had any reports of a crash relating to landscape-client.
