jeff: your keyboard configuration is broken; did you remove all the keyboard
layouts from the list?
seb/daniel: g-k-a/libswitchit should be a little more robust and not try to set
empty layouts/models, I guess.
dragodd: bds is not a valid option (but I suspect it's a valid variant). how
did you generate this keyboard configuration?

I didn't touch a thing. My keyboard layout appears to work fine (en_US) and I
haven't noted any problems.

I didn't touch any keyboard layouts and wouldn't know how without some
google-foo. Even though I don't
logout very often, it is an annoying error that I would like do disappear.

I get exactly the same error, and afaik have never touched my xkb config since
installing (it was a fresh install the day before UBZ, upgraded to dapper at the
end of the conference).

Scott, could you do a "gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd"?

Daniel, I've this issue too.

Turned to be a libxklavier issue triggered by a gnome-settings-daemon change:

 libxklavier (2.0-0.2ubuntu3) dapper; urgency=low
 .
   * debian/patches/02_waitpid_xkbfix.patch:
     - wait on the correct PID, fix the GNOME warning about xkb (Ubuntu: #19685)

Let we know if that fixes the issue

I updated everything and did init 1, CTRL D to bring x back up.

The xkbd error went away, thanks.
