Bug Description
Binary package hint: displayconfig-gtk
Choosing a monitor model in displayconfig-gtk raises an IndexError exception.
$ sudo displayconfig-gtk
The monitor is recognised as Plug'n'Play Monitor. If I choose any other model from the list the monitor model doesn't change(it stays Plug'Play monitor) and I get this output in the terminal:
[]

device.
File "/var/lib/

IndexError: list index out of range
I reinstalled the package displayconfig-gtk but that did't change anything at all. I noticed however that synaptic reported version 0.3.10 while "displayconfig-gtk --version " reported 0.3.2(which is maybe another bug :) )
$ apt-cache policy displayconfig-gtk
displayconfig-gtk:
Installed: 0.3.10
Candidate: 0.3.10
Version table:
*** 0.3.10 0

$ displayconfig-gtk --version
0.3.2
My version of ubuntu is:
Description: Ubuntu 8.04.1
Release: 8.04
I attach my xorg.conf if it is to be of any help
Thank you for reporting this bug and for your efforts to make
Ubuntu better. As Xorg has improved this past year, an unfortunate side
effect of these improvements is that it has rendered several design
assumptions in displayconfig-gtk obsolete. So, starting with Hardy we
are no longer putting displayconfig-gtk forth as a primary configuration
tool, and are putting our development focus into the Screen Resolution
applet. As a result, we do not plan to fix this bug and thus are closing
it.
