Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Sometimes, when I open the Terminal, some space is allocated for it on the Window List (I have the Expand option unmarked on Panel Properties), but the relevant button does not show up. It happens very randomly, so I haven't really found a way to reproduce it, but it has happened quite a number of times since I started using Hardy.

Also, as can be seen on screenshot that is attached to this report, the selected button on the Window List is the one referring to the Ubuntu Help Center, even though the focused window is the Terminal.

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04, and gnome-panel version is 1:2.22.1.2-0ubuntu3.

Thank you for your bug report. Could you describe steps to trigger the issue. Have you changed the configuration or are you using the standard one? Do you get the issue on different applications? Do you have any error to .xsession-errors when running into the issue?

It had only happened with Terminal, but now it has just happened with Synaptic. I don't really know what triggers it. All I have to do is to open an application (Terminal, through the Panel; Synaptic through the Main Menu), and then it happens. But, as I said above, it does not always happen.

I'm using the standard configuration. I've got this issue since I fresh-installed Hardy few days ago.

What follows is the content of the last lines of my .xsession-errors right after this problem happened with Synaptic. As far as I know, none of them seem to be relevant to this issue.

not a non-utf8 issue then, reopening you are the only one having the issue so it's likely due to something in your configuration not sure what though

seems to be similar to bug #144406, still weird, having a way to trigger the issue would be useful
