Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-aiptek

Not sure if this is related to bug#198599 or not, but here goes:

I have a Medion USB tablet (Aiptek rebranded). It shows up on /dev/input/event5 but there is no /dev/input/wacom or dev/input/aiptektablet or anything like that. I can move the cursor with it, but it seems incapable of detecting any contact/pressure/button events. I can't use it to click or in gimp it doesn't paint or anything. Just cursor movement.

wacdump /dev/input/event5 looks fine showing x/y movement and pressure.

Currently installed are:
xserver-xorg-input-aiptek 1.0.1-6
xserver-xorg-input-wacom 0.7.9.2-2ubuntu2
wacom-tools 0.7.9.2-2ubuntu2

I'm on Kubuntu Hardy Beta 1 although this has been showing up since I first tried somewhere around Edgy.

lsusb entry and xorg.conf are attached (with any luck)

I can confirm this bug, I'm suffering from the same problem in Ubuntu Hardy. I have got it to work with clicks, but no pressure, so still fails (I have tried it with the Gimp). I have a Trust 3100 tablet, APT-2 Aiptek chip.
wacdump shows pressure is working fine, but still impossible with the Gimp. I have also sent an email upstream.

Changed in xserver-xorg-input-aiptek:
status: New → Confirmed

I also have this problem with the Aiptek xorg driver and a Trust TB-4200 (rebadged Aiptek 12000U). As reports wacdump shows the pressure on the event device, however, xidump shows no pressure returned by the xorg driver for the stylus.

This is really strange. Thanks for your response!! I hope someone is
listening to us ;-) *and* he/she gets this solved!!

I have not tested xidump, I wish I knew more about X.org, this sound
like a silly bug, anyways.

If you get to solve it, please, let me know!!! Really.

I just filed the same issue for an Aiptek 600U (the same WALTOP thing) in Intrepid.
No one answered me anyway.

This does not read like a duplicate. I'm on 10.04, and I still have this problem with my Aiptek 6000U + the aiptek driver.
