Bug Description

Uploading a .po file without updating review date will fail silently.
Rosetta should email the uploader with an error message.

I think I'm having the same issue. It doesn't seem to work (after waiting >8 hours), but I didn't get an error message either. I don't know what the 'review date' is, but I'll try and see if I can fix it, and if that works.

I think that users should be able to see every request they've made and the status of such request. This would be far better than emailing every single export notification.

Zygmunt, I like your idea of putting export requests on a web page with status information. However, I'm not sure what you mean by "without updating review". Could you clarify?

I've filed the export page idea as bug #6082.

If you export a po file, alter some translation but keep the old 'Updated-On' field (or similar, the date of last review in the header), then import such translation then it will be silently rejected.

I just implemented a modification for the import queue that will note the status of all imports.

- If it failed, you will see it there with the FAILED status until you or a Rosetta Expert removes it or, if it failed due a bug on Rosetta, we retry it and it's finally imported.

- If the import was done, you will see it there for 5 days, after that, it will be removed from the queue.

- If someone deleted it (you or an admin) you will see it there for 5 days, after that it will be completely removed.

I'm going to work on email notifications too.

We should send notifications for every error we get while doing an import

i'm using - build 5313 and I can still reproduce this bug.

I have to manually change the PO-Revision-Date field in order to receive error messages.

In the last 3 days I tried to import a transtaltion for rythymbox and it always failed without an error message.

The file is here http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10833980/ro.po

Please take a look at this problem! With rosetta giving lots of timeout errors and import not working It is very hard for the localization team to do its work!

Thanks!

Adi, the bug you are talking about is bug #173144. Please track it's progress. There was also an announcement about the problem on ubuntu-translators list.

I still consider this bug valid due to the fact no error notification is send the the uploader and there is no other message to indicate the failure reason.

Add, that's a *new* bug with a very similar description: debugging information in this bug is not at all useful for the current situation. At the moment, we get those notifications, so we are aware of all the failed imports. We are working on this, so please be patient.
