Bug Description

On Ubuntu 22.04.01, LibreOffice Impress (version 1:7.3.7-0ubuntu0.22.04.1) crashes when exiting the presentation mode, if I enable 200% scaling in GNOME settings on my high-dpi screen. The application window disappears silently instead of returning to the editing mode. The error message is (if Impress is started from a terminal):

################################################################
X-Error: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)
 Major opcode: 62 (X_CopyArea)
 Resource ID: 0x1202be7
 Serial No: 59699 (59699)
These errors are reported asynchronously,
set environment variable SAL_SYNCHRONIZE to 1 to help debugging
Unspecified Application Error
################################################################

The crash occurs reliably every time. The crash does not happen if I do not use scaling in GNOME display settings, or if I turn off the "hardware acceleration" option in Impress --> Tools --> Options --> LibreOffice --> View --> Graphics Output.

Additional info: the bug occurs on both Wayland and Xorg sessions on my Ubuntu 22.04 installation.

(Before I upgraded Ubuntu, I also experienced the problem on 20.04, with all recent versions of LibreOffice including both official Ubuntu versions and more updated PPA versions, but only in Xorg sessions not Wayland sessions.)

peterfrank/zengmao, could you test if issue still appears on latest stable LibreOffice 7.4.4 from ppa:libreoffice/ppa ?

Yes, I found the identical problem appears with the PPA version you pointed to, LibreOffice 7.4.4.2 40(Build:2). It seems to be an upstream bug to me.

More information: checking the box "Use Skia for all rendering" (while keeping hardware acceleration on) also avoids the crash.
