I tried to upgrade from a gutsy system to hardy alpha 5 and had a similar problem with cupsys 1.3.6-1ubuntu1 with kernel 2.6.24-10-generic. It couldn't find apparmor_parser, and failed.to configure In turn a lot of other dependencies failed. The upgrade failed, and suggested I return my system to it's original state, but I put it on a USB Boot in case I worked out how to stabilize it later Because I was going to try and install an ndiswrapper for the new kernel I started off with an apt-get install build-essential, While build-essential was already installed It gave me a good summary of the packages that failed to configure I'll attach it. I've posted it to an upgrade bug that was invalidated because I have a Ubuntu Ultimate system, but this time I can be more specific.
