There is SHA256 sum which is considered to be safer.
Please also see LP: #1883272. MD5SUM for 20.04 is unlikely to be published again.

Perhaps removing the MD5 sums for the older releases from the alternative downloads page would move things in the right direction. It was the lack of parallels that struck me as odd (four SHA256 sums followed by three MD5 sums). If MD5 is insecure, it's insecure for the older releases as well...
