Bug Description

I recently happened to click on the Mixxx icon more than twice and realized that it actually opened more than one instances of the Mixxx application. Is this deliberately allowed, or should only one instance of Mixxx be allowed to be loaded?

Is there a potential for corrupting the database with multiple instances open?

The database cannot be "corrupted" by it.
But you can have all kinds of race conditions when playing or editing the same track or playlists.
For example if you play the same track in both instances, the play counter may be incremented by on or by two.

Bug or feature?
For me this is a feature, because you can use two different soundcard and databases.
We can consider to place a warning:
"One instance of Mixxx is already running. Do you wish to start a second one?"

I thought about an option for "Only allow one instance of Mixxx", where trying to launch again would just refocus the running instance. Probably better to comment here rather than create a new issue.
