Bug Description
The ability to store gradients within inkscape independent of the svg file,
and also the ability to export and import gradients as a gradient as a fill
preset. So if i open a new file and create an object, and select the
gradient editor the dropdown at the top would have the saved gradients from
files i've worked on before, not all the ones i've ever used, just the ones
i chose to save. However i might end up with lots of presets so they might
be stored in little squares instead of a dropdown list? Or maybe the list
is arranged according to most used which has the 10 most used and you click
more at the bottom of the list which brings up a little window with all of
them?
The one i like the most is: a filter box at the top of the list, followed
by a list, works like the windows start menu which scrolls the items when
you have lots of them.
-------
Filter: [ Filter Box ]
-------
Thin button with an up arrow
-------
List of gradients
here, about 10, arranged
according to most used,
or alphabetically, but if
someone knew the name
they would search for it.

Thin button with an down arrow
-------
Exporting gradients would be good, with the ability to export multiple
gradients, even all the stored gradients as a file at once, i work in
windows and linix so the would seem logical

I agree with you. That is a feature that is certainly missing in v 46.0
