Bug Description
This looks like a fairly recent regression (which might have happened when switching to the TabsBar component provided by ubuntu-ui-extras).
On desktop, when resizing the window to its minimum width and opening the tabs view, it can be clearly seen that there's a missing asset for the tab. See attached screenshot.

Original reporter cannot reproduce the issue on Zesty. Tested with deb, snap and from source.
Same here on Xenial.
