No error when importing nodes from a bad json file

Bug Description

When importing nodes from a badly formatted json file, the GUI shows no response. There is no error message that is displayed and the dialog remains empty.

    Show error when using invalid instackenv.json

    When registering nodes via a JSON file, errors due to an invalid JSON
    string just go unnoticed.

    This patch adds an error message so the error can be detected and fixed.
