Opening .dot file causes flickering\aliasing

Bug Description

I'm running version 3.0.1 on Ubuntu 16.04 xenial. When I open a Word template downloaded from a scientific periodical, the screen slowly flicker/has some aliasing issues. Also a table is rendered out of place.

Here is the output from 'lsb_release -rd', as demanded by the rules on the site:

File opens fine on MS-Word, and in Linux Abiword only the Abiword document pane is affected by flicker. Mouse movement changes flicker speed.
