This is incorrect. nm-* is deprecated as a naming convention. Instead the convention is "network-wireless-signal-*-secure-symbolic"

Kirill, apparently this happens because you're using a wired connection. Perhaps this is icon theme issue, but not network indicator.

elementary OS has -secure icons for wired connections?

We don't appear to have -secure icons for wired, we would also need -secure for all the cellular networks which makes me think

We could have just the small lock as it's own icon, and use that on an overlay
