Todd, any update? I found the issue still exists in moblin-applets 0.24.

The screen automatically goes black after a minute or so of inactivity. I think what's happening is when the date or time is changed, that timeout is triggered prematurely. We need to find what's causing the screen to timeout in the first place (it's probably some remnant of the gnome infrastructure that we didn't remove). Then once that's gone the problem should go away.

This problem occurs whenever the time is set forward or backward by more than a few minutes. It's caused by some sort of screensaver timeout that isn't installed by ppm or moblin-applets. We need to find this so we can shut it off.

I think the problem is caused by xdpms, the X power management extension. A workaround is to comment out the following line in xorg.conf:
Option "DPMS"

I just comment out the "DPMS" line and test again.
The issue still exist.

I verified the issue in latest moblin-applets 0.54 on CB and Q1U, the issue still exits especially when you change hour field then click "Close" button.
You can use QA image RC1 20080407, RC2 20080410. And I think the issue always exists in moblin-applets version from 0.24 to 0.54.

Since this screen blackout only becomes a problem when the time is adjusted, this is a time applet problem (it needs to disable the screensaver before the change). I've tested this with the gnome-system-tools time applet (installed from the PPA) and this problem no longer occurs.

Verified in moblin-applets 0.61-0ubuntu1 and gnome-system-tools 2.22.0-0ubuntu10, date/time changed a lot, and the issue doesn't exist any more, close it.
