Bug Description

Hi,

like in summary. Not everyone want to use Ubuntu to create apps for UT. Many of us have some other favorite production distro (mine is Arch). I'd love to see Ubuntu SDK with emulator working with any other distribution :)
Please, anyone who know how to do it - create proper snap package.

Absolutely freaking yes!

And I'm saying that as an Ubuntu user.

That's because installing the SDK on my regular Ubuntu install is quite disruptive, it pulls in several tons of dependencies I usually have no other need for, especially the spell checking dictionaries are annoying, as they pollute my actual "everyday use" apps.
The SDK also takes over regular QtCreator and always has that update emulator update dialog pop
up when you are working on something unrelated to the Ubuntu platform.

Gimme that SDK snap!

For the time being:

a) You can disable the automatic upgrades, just go to tools -> options -> ubuntu and uncheck the option for the auto upgrades and the dialog is gone

b) you can use the SDK-next based on LXD images which pulls much less dependencies:

and
https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/blog/2016/06/28/new-ubuntu-sdk-beta-release3/

c) as a third option you can always install the upstream QtC side by side the Ubuntu SDK, and use something like qtcreator -settingspath ~/.config/qtc-vanilla to have 2 different versions of QtC.

I've discovered ubuntu-sdk-ide snap on Edge channel, but it doesn't run on my installation of Arch Linux:
$ snap run ubuntu-sdk-ide
No schema files found: doing nothing.

Though it's good to see there's ongoing work in this direction :)
