Bug Description

16 hours ago (2016-06-20 08:10) I uploaded a package, atom-fusion_1.8.0_amd64.snap to https://myapps.developer.ubuntu.com/ in my web browser (using snapcraft upload from the command-line did not work due to bug 1594273) and despite no clear indication of problems (e.g., it says "Package Status is Published" on my package dashboard) the package is not available in the official snap repository yet. I have uploaded two PDF documents of my myapps.developer.ubuntu.com dashboard for this package, both are attached, that I've created using Google Chrome's print dialog, in case that helps in troubleshooting this bug.

Hi, atom-fusion is uploaded to beta/edge channels, in devmode, as such it won't appear in the index directly (but is available via `snap install atom-fusion --edge --devmode`), so the bug here is maybe about the meaning of 'published' in myapps and the messaging to developers around channels and confinement in myapps.

However, the behaviour is as expected I think.

Confirmed what Stephen said. Packages on non-stable channels will not appear in the store search results, but they are fully installable requesting devmode and the right channel.

Stephen, do you think we could do something about the working in myapps?

summary: - Package Uploaded via web browser not being added to public repository
+ package with single revision using devmode reports "published" but since
+ is not searchable, messaging is confusing

Maybe "Package status is Published" to "Package is published to $channels,
and $confinement" linked to a page explaining the meaning of channels and
confinement, with the relevant snap find incantations there.

Or something like "Package is published", "Package is published, but not
promoted" (swap in your favourite word for 'promoted') again with links
explaining the significance ... or some kind of icon set for the trio of
"Published", "Published but not promoted" and "Unpublished".

So the options above are either implicit or explicit, probably better to go
with explicit ("Published, but not promoted").

It could be argued that a global state like this is not relevant to the
current snap model, but I think it still has some use, and moving to
clearly indicating state through revisions will take a lot more work in the
UI than updating a string.
