Bug Description

When the UK regional format is set system-wide with day, date, month and year all displayed in the top right of the screen, the 'date' and 'month' fields are displayed in the reverse order in the US style. If the 'year' field is not selected, the order reverts to the correct style for UK.

I think the order is controlled by the British translation of indicator-datetime.

affects: language-selector (Ubuntu) → ubuntu-translations
Changed in ubuntu-translations:

I'm pointing out an inconsistency in the UK date format, depending on whether the 'Year' check-box is checked in the 'Time & Date' window.

In this screenshot the 'Year' check-box is not checked, and the date in the top right corner is in the UK format (Day, Date, Month) as indicated in the example in the 'Language Support' window.

In the next screenshot the 'Year' check-box is checked, and the date in the top right corner is in the US format (Day, Month, Date, Year), inconsistent with the example in the 'Language Support' window.

Adding the 'Year' field to the date format seems to change the order of the 'Date' and 'Month' fields. This shouldn't happen, should it?

I understood that, Simon, and a correction of the British 'translation' I pointed at will most likely fix it (haven't tested, though). Someone in <https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-en-gb> can make the correction.

Which package an issue affects is not always easy to figure out. Thanks for reporting this issue! :)

I've updated the translation, but I don't run Unity, so I haven't tested that it fixes the bug. Could someone test it please?

Thanks, Steve. Let's simply wait until next translation update (probably in a few days).

But when we are at it, I just noticed a similar issue when the weekday is not showed.

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/xenial/+source/indicator-datetime/+pots/indicator-datetime/en_GB/8/+translate

Can you please make a similar change to that string too?

Done. I had a quick look through indicator-datetime and everything else looks ok to me.
