Bug Description

Users wanted to know if backup support is included in Canonical's roadmap, they find very important having an app/UI/procedure to backup their data/apps and/or online accounts.

Product: E4.5 & E5
FW version: OTA-9

Actual Result:
Ther is no app or procedure to save userdata/apps or online accounts.

Expected Result:

1. Have an app for userdata backup or online accounts backup.
2. i.e: Implement userdata backup from recovery as in Android devices, but it has its limitations:
- 4Gb max weight due to FAT32 file format
- Needs to be done with the same device(same board, otherwise it will fail)
- Even preferable with the same FW version when backup is restored.

It would be a nice feature if this backup app could backup to online/cloud storage such as dropbox/google drive, etc online storage.

As well as export or some way to not be tied to the same device as one would do when upgrading the hardware to a new phone for an example.

imho this is one big gaping hole in functionality.

I use rc-proposed and test a lot of silos, so it would be a really useful feature for me. I use some custom scripts for backup/restore, but an "official" feature would be better, especially for the "simple" users. :)

An official backup/restore function really is missing. Manually copying the files (yep me) or custom scripts (#3) are not "up to date".

I would like to suggest, that any backup tool should not only support online accounts but also local backup/restore with another computer/laptop. Not everyone wants to share his/her data with a cloud. ;-)
