Visual indication when final release comes out

Maybe it is enough to improve the text information that currently just says:
"No updates available" (or something like that).

That doesn't indicate that the beta release has become the final release.

In my opinion it should be specified. For instance by adding release information: "your system (7.10 beta) is up to date" or "your system (7.10 final release) is up to date".

Saying something like "your system (7.10 beta) is up to date" or "your system (7.10 final release) is up to date" would not necessarily work because as far as I know, beta and release candidates are just snapshots of packages. Maybe it should say something like "A(n) new (alpha/beta/final) version of Ubuntu is available.

Is it even safe to say that if a user upgraded to a -beta or -rc that their system is "current"? I know that my testing machine was different than a fresh "complete" 7.10 installation. Ie: Fast user switching in the top gnome panel.

Actually, I don't think such an indication is absolutely necessary. Ordinary users are not encouraged to use pre-release versions, as the matter of fact they are even advised not to do so. Anybody using pre-releases (and so subject to the possible inconvenience) is actually a tester, and testers are supposed to track the release schedule, or at least be aware when the final release is out.

My point is: such notification would be of no use for regular users, while testers are supposed to be able to care for themselves. I think this bug is invalid and should be marked as such.
