battstat-applet memory leak

Did you install Ubuntu MATE or did you install Ubuntu and then add the MATE Desktop? I ask because the system monitor in the screenshot is not MATE System Monitor.

It was Ubuntu 15.10 MATE Edition. I've installed Unity on it before, so that's why I've used it

I am seeing the same behavior on Ubunut Mate 16.04. Memory usage goes from 40MB to 75MB in 3-4 hours. I first noticed this when the memory usage was 400 MB which seemed kinda large for a battery monitor.

I am seeing the same behavior on Linux Mint Sarah 18 based on Xenial.
The leak reaches 90MB in a few days.
The amount of memory used appears in the system monitor.

Experiencing the same memory leak on Ubuntu MATE 16.10.
Memory usage went up to ~1GB after 3.5 hours today and was over 2GB yesterday after about 7-8 hours.

I have done very computational intensive work these last two days which drained the battery very quickly and I had to recharge often.
I never noticed this memory leak during the 14 months I've been using Ubuntu MATE on this laptop. So my best guess is that the leak is somehow caused by either the quick discharge, the frequent recharges, or both.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Fixed via mate-applets 1.24.1-0ubuntu1 in Ubuntu Groovy.

I recently upgraded my 16.04 to 18.04 and then immediately to 20.04 (no restart between 16->18 and 18->20, if I remember correctly). I have always been using MATE and always had battery indicator in the taskbar (obviously, it was visually different in 16.04).

Today, I spotted a memory leak in battstat-applet, reaching up to 3% of my RAM.

No LSB modules are available.

I seem to have the freshest mate-applets available for 20.04:

mate-applets is already the newest version (1.24.0-1).

Do I understand correctly that the fix is available also in 20.04 focal? Why I do not get it?
Or is there a way to install a 20.10 package to my 20.04?
