Bug Description

No sound from Rhythmbox when playing from cd or hdd. Tried playing the example .ogg, as well as extracting a file from an audio cd. (extraction went fine, but same result - tries to play but stops after 2 secs, no sound heard) This is a clean Ubuntu load 6.06 LTS from cd, no additional software. System plays login & logout sounds. There is visual indication that it tries to start the song, but stops after a 2 second pause. No audio. Checked the volume of the alsamixer device (au8810), set at 80%, not muted.

When running from command line the only error/warning it gives is ** unable to start mDNS browsing **. Rhythmbox starts up fine & shows my library. I select a song, it displays the artist & title in hyperlinks for a second, then just stops & go back to a wait state.

Pop in the cd - tell Sound Juicer to "play", and I get the following error [error playing cd - reason: could not get/set settings from/on resource] then [data overflow error]

*aside: Totem will not play dvds either*
**aside: Hit "play" on dvd drive - cd plays fine**

Sometimes my rhythbox plays--sometimes not! I have given up trying to solve the puzzle.

Thanks for reporting bugs. Is this still a problem for you? If so, please give us log messages of totem and rhythmbox.
