Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When I activate the Negative plugin in Compiz, rather than turning a window black, it simply replaces the window contents with a grey rectangle. If I activate negative for the entire screen, the panels and all window contents turn solid grey, but the window borders and wallpaper remain normal.

Exact same problem here. According to reports on the compiz-fusion site, negative should work with my hardware (The blacklisted Intel 965), but simply doesn't.

The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the actively developed release. You can find out more about the development release at [WWW] http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/

Exact same result with Hardy, using the Live CD.

I wonder if this might be fixed by the intel driver that just entered hardy (ubuntu6). You'll have to do a real install or wait for the next alpha (coming soon) to test that though. Other than that I'm not quite sure what is going on here, you two are the only ones that have ever had this problem, from what I can tell.

Just tried with the latest alpha (6) live cd. Same thing.

I have a Lenovo T61 with Ubuntu Hardy Heron

Attached is an image. Whenever I use the Negative filter the contents of the window turns black.
I can confirm that this also occurred when my laptop was blacklisted for Compiz via Ubuntu Gutsy (and I manually bypassed it and found many things weren't working, some of which work now IIRC, but still, no negative, which is one of the better features I feel).

All of the content of the windows turn black, except the borders. Screenshot attached. Regardless of the window.

It would mean a lot of this could get looked it.

Are more specs needed?
Any readouts from my laptop, or more tech info?

Thanks!

This is probably a mesa bug, it doesn't really have anything to do with compiz. In any case, on my system (i865), the current intrepid xserver/mesa/intel-driver fix this issue.
