Bug Description

The example configuration files in the source repository lack the changes in the list of new, updated, and deprecated options in the Kilo configuration reference guide [1]. For example, the example neutron.conf file [2] lacks the [nova] and [oslo_messaging_*] sections and options.

Mi investigation indicates that this commit: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/160873/ is including configuration variables that do not exist in Neutron. Trying to contact the author of that commit to find out more details.

I'll run the script that generates the XML docs to see if it catches the changes. If not I'll see what we can do to fix this in the tools.

The root of the issue is that we don't generate our config files, but manually fill them in, so they are prone to become obsolete, especially since we should maintain there options defined in consumed oslo libraries.

Ihar, I agree, and we're going to fix that in Liberty. But the issue at hand is we need to ensure the configuration files are accurate for Kilo, and we'll fix that during the RC window here.

Edgar, how is progress on this issue coming along? Per the email thread we had on this, it looks like you're making some progress in using Nova's tool to auto generate, but hitting snags? I propose you fix those snags, and then submit a patch series which includes nova's tools to generate the config files as the first patch, followed by subsequent patches which fix the issues, and a final patch which gets us to the correct config file.

Based on our latest chat, I will commit a patch to fix the neutron.conf and once I have fix all those snags on the auto generation tool, I will commit it separately mostly due to the short deadline for kilo release.
