I created a bootable thumb drive from kubuntu-
The HP displayed the message
Missing parameter in configuration file. Keyword: path
and then repeatedly displayed
boot:
I entered the command "help", and then Enter after the help menu displayed. This lead to successful a start-up.

Same problem with xubutu & ubuntu 15.04 (Download by torrent).
Never problem to boot on USB key normally, my last install is 27July 2015.
