Bug Description

Hello elementary team and people
I always meet input method issue whenever I install elementary OS freya
As I am a Korean , I need to install language input method such ac ibus-hangul, nabi, uim, fcitx by cases
Each person has its favorite input method for their own
but , these days , all of the IM have a big trouble with qt-5 bug and chromium and chroem browser input bug
thus, we use normally uim or fcitx to avoid those errors now a days , just for avoiding it,
we love actually ibus-hangul and nabi also (for korean)

A lot of people from non-english based nations people would meet the same thing in freya
there is no language-selector in region and language in switchboard, and it makes us hard to set up language input method

we need it, and to add there , I hope elementary team to create some creative way to install and settle input method for those people

choose input method
install
setting it up

I hope it to be created so much
thank you
best regard

if language settings follow the locale,it provides pre configured packages for region.
For an illustration, if locale is ko_KR, ibus ships with ibus and ibus-hangul, um ships with uim and uim-byeoru, nabi, fcitx ships with fcitx-hangul.
But, for solving that issue in the current system is make one more toggle switch for choosing essential packages like linuxmint mintlocale shows
Basically, providing pre installed the system language input method and enable users to change others,
however, uim and uim-byeoru is least problematic method in Korea for now.
I hope it to be created the way of elementary style!!

"nabi" will be displayed as "hangul" in im-config settings

I think most of the keyboard language settings should be addressed on the keyboard plug, right now the support for ibus like languages is missing there, but as you said it's really hard to come up with sane defaults without adding a lot of switches, I think they can be better placed on the keyboard plug than the locale plug.

actually, it was a Language Support(language-selector-gnome)was there,
first, in system settings at luna
it installed lots of useless packages for all users , I think it made
elementary team avoid from it at Freya,
I am so agreed with it.
but, it was the only tool for language-select with input-method at once,
im-config work though, it is just a tiny configuration tool to select
input-method only
language support worked more than im-config did.

so that we usually configure it the language settings and input-method as
a whole united unit.
thus, I thought the locale plug is good for the input method
keyboard plug is not accustomed with us but good idea.

This Input Method Tab must be an independent feature like keyboard layout selector.
There are a lot of input methods for the people of Asia and who need it.
It should be easy for users to choose it , but input methods are not delivered as built in like keyboard layout, since it is provided as packages.
Thus, we need to install it when we need it.
And when we don't need it, it should be removed easily by users.

GNOME has ibus baked in and integrates this into the Region & Language section of their Control Center, which contains Language and Format options like Switchboard's Language & Region plug. It is very slick, including a nice language selector that shows up in the top bar when you have more than one language or keyboard layout added in your settings.

Adding similar functionality would be great, but you could iterate on this by selecting some sane defaults based on the language selected during install. For example, if someone selects Japanese as their language, set up a mozc or anthy input source alongside the default Japanese keyboard layout, which is a slightly rearranged English QWERTY layout (I think this is how Windows machines are set up in Japan by default as well).

Considering the ibus package is already a part of Loki by default (not sure if it's intentional, because it is completely broken and unusable), I don't think it's a stretch to have this implemented down the road.
