What Ubuntu release is this on?
Is this with an imported database, or one that was created in Pasaffe?
What language are you running under?

cat /etc/issue
Ubunt 13.10 \n \l

Database has been imported from psafe

The language settings were not installed properly according to Settings Manager --> Language.

I have resolved that issue and set the language to English (Canada).

The problem remains after restarting pasaffe.

psafe? Would that be Password Safe? If so, what version?
Are there any spaces or special characters in the folder names?

Yes, it is Password Safe under Windows 7. I do not know the version as I only pasaffe under Ubuntu. One could assume it will be the most recent version - at most one or two versions back. Either way, I will fund out and reply here again.

I'm not quite sure why this is happening to you. I can't reproduce it.

Are you able to create a test database under windows to reproduce the problem, and send it to me?

Do your folder names contain special characters in them, or accented characters?
Could you give an example of one of the folder names?

Hello Marc,

A couple of the folders and some of the entries contain spaces, brackets
( and ), and commas in their names.

every note / entry is listed in its own separate folder. Folders with a
common parent are all grouped together, but any items in the parent
folder get their own... such as:

root
|-fldr1
| |-fldr2
| | |-item1
| |-fldr2
| | |\item2
|
|-fldr1
| |-item3
|
|-fldr2
| |-fldr3
| | |-item4
| |-fldr3
| | |-item5
|
|-fldr2
| |-item6

Notice how fldr1 and fldr2 have both items and sub folders. Each item
is listed under a distinct folder, all the way down. Looks confusing as
hell, but the error is quite basic. Items are not grouped under common
folders, nor are they listed below/before any sub-folders in their root.

I will try to track down a copy of the app being used to create the
database originally and do the Windows thing for you - I have a Win7 VM
available that I can test with.

Thank you for your continued attention to this. I do appreciate it.

Regards,
Andrew
