Bug Description

Using Cairo-Dock 3.1.0 on Ubuntu 11.04 32-bit with Gnome 2.23.1. After updating from Cairo-Dock 3.0.2 and restarting Cairo-Dock the desktop icons are shifted about two inches to the right and cannot be moved back unless I quit Cairo-Dock and logout/login. If I try to move them back to the left they pop back to the right as soon as released. No matter where the dock is placed (top bottom left right) the gap on the left side of the screen remains. I attached a picture; the yellow shading represents where my icons should be and cannot be placed with the new Cairo-Dock running.

Hi,
did you by chance move the dock with ALT+mouse ?
You can check if the offset to the screen border is 0 or not in the config window (in advance mode).

Also, try with the default theme, by running:
cairo-dock -d ~/test

Found the problem. A process called cairo-dock-unity-bridge is causing the gap. If I kill this process the gap disappears. Not sure why this runs when I start cairo-dock; as I said I'm using Gnome2. In preferences Gnome Integration is enabled; I don't see any options to disable Unity integration. Is there a quick fix to keep this process from starting with cairo-dock?

Yes, you can remove this file, e.g. by using this command launched from a terminal:
   $ sudo rm /usr/lib/cairo-dock/cairo-dock-unity-bridge

This is strange!
@fabounet: do you understand why we have this bug? Maybe I should add the Unity support only for recent versions of DBusMenu? (e.g. for Ubuntu 11.10 and newer?)

I really don't see the link with the unity-bridge though :-/
It's probably a side effect.

If you put your dock at the bottom, is there a gap between the bottom
screen border and the dock, or is the dock shifted to the right ?
So is the gap only on the left side of the screen or between the
actual side border and the dock ?

Could you please try with the default theme ?
"cairo-dock -d ~/test" in a terminal

also, having the debug outputs might help:
"cairo-dock -l debug > log.txt" in a terminal and then post here the
file log.txt

Thank you !
