ubuntu kernel: [ 613.225510] plugininstall.p[11223]: segfault at 7f0da78cbbf0 ip 00007f0db0b3569d sp 00007fff113b9780 error 6 in libapt-pkg.so.4.12.0[7f0db0aa4000+11b000]

occurred during free software installation with manual partitioning

Press F6 and use the down arrow to get to Free software only and press Enter after the language selection screen.

One partition with ext4 mounted on /, swap and another ext4 mounted on /boot

I was able to reproduce this also, on amd64 but not on i386
