Can not enable timed screen lock without turning off the screen

Bug Description

Occurs in 20121008 quantal desktop images in all architectures.

1. Select 'Never' in Tunr off screen for inactive drop down list
2. Make sure 'Lock' is enabled
2. Select 30 seconds in Lock screen after drop down list

Wait for 30 seconds +

It could be noticed that the screen does not lock after 30 seconds

I'm experiencing the same issue. Ubuntu 12.10 upgrade from 12.04. I can lock the screen using ctrl+alt+l, but it won't lock automatically after the time interval selected in All Settings -> Brightness and Lock -> Lock screen after:

Found the solution. It's really a wording issue. You have to add the times from "Turn screen off when inactive for" and "Lock screen after" to get the total time before the screen locks. I found the solution here:
