Scratch considers some files nonexistent (and treats them just like empty read-only files, as per bug 1038291) or crashes on opening them. I can't find any pattern in the file names which it doesn't open, there doesn't seem to be anything special about them. My Apport reporter is screwed somehow, so I can't report the crash.
