Bug Description

After updating grub (sudo update-grub) from xubuntu 12.04 (Linux 3.2.0-26-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 14 17:49:24 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) on sdd to allow another system with a new kernel on another disk (sdg) to be booted, the boot menu ommitted the system on sdg.

This is new behavior. Prior update-grub executions listed the system on sdd.

New boot info at http://paste.ubuntu.com/1100049/.

The system not booted (arch-linux) is reported as on sda in this report. It was reported on sdg in previous report.

This bootinfo reported this line not on previous:

"Linux not detected by os-prober on sda2. Please report this message to <email address hidden>"

Hello
- The change "sda -> sdg -> sdX" is not a problem, it is due to the BIOS.
- The message "Linux not detected by os-prober on sda2. Please report this message to <email address hidden>" is just informative.

The real bug is:
os-prober fails to detect the /boot partition of Arch in sda1.
As you say that Arch was correctly detected before doing update-grub, I think this is a regression of os-prober.

My 2 cents.
