glade not selecting menu bar item as expected

Following the quickly tutorial (the one that comes with quickly, i.e. by running at the command-line "quickly tutorial"), about halfway down the part 1: Getting Started screen, under "Set the signal handler in Glade", the directions are:

Choose the Save menu item, and it will be selected in Glade.

However, when doing this, the mnu_file item remained selected, rather than focus shifting to mnu_save ...

I'm not 100% sure it's a bug in glade, or misinformation in the quickly tutorial.

This was found in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, under glade v. 3.12.1-0ubuntu1, libglade2.0 v. 1:2.6.4-1ubuntu1.1
