Rescan of the music folder doesn't recognize changed metadata

Well, the actual problem seems to be that my Tag Editor does not modify the timestamp of the latest change of the file. It does write the parent folder's timestamp (something that is said to be useful for Amarok), maybe the scanning could check that too? Or you could add an option like "deep rescan" that would compare the metadata of the files with those in the database. The scanning is quite fast right now, which is amazing, but on the other hand people might like to keep the timestamp of the file when editing the tags (And not all programs offer the option to write it). Having both possibilities would be great.

I'm absolutely wrong. The changed timestamp didn't change a thing. The only way to get BeatBox to recognice that you've changed the metadata of a file, is to rename it. A file with the same name filename is not recognized as changed. Even playing a file that has different metadata than thos in the database does not make the changes show up.

A "deep rescan" is a possible idea, but really it is just re-importing. Also, BeatBox should be good enough of a metadata editor that it doesn't require an external one. What do you find that it is lacking?

Generally an external Tool like EasyTag is better for cleaning up Tags and
renaming Files and folders of a lot of music.
But anyway you could imagine a lot of cases in which metadata is changed
externally. Maybe I just saw a mistake in the data while browsing my Files
and quickly changed the metadata using the File Browser. Or whatever. There
are great tools for automatically correcting Tags of a lot of Files. And
BeatBox should take Account of such changes.

What the hell happend here? Sorry for accidentally posting that three times!

I will mark this as wishlist for now.

One solution to this is to check the last modified date on the song within beatbox (when its metadata was last changed using beatbox) and compare that to the last modified date on the file (when its file was last modified). If the modified date on the file is more recent than the beatbox modification date, re-read the meta.

Affects me, and maybe change back to clementine cause of this bug..
It is very important so i can organize my music..

Found a boring solution until the bug is fixed..

1.move the file(s) to any folder that is not in the library of beatbox ( i will use desktop folder )
2. hit rescan
3. change howered u want the metadata of the files that u moved in desktop..
4. move the files back..
5. hit rescan

woualla :)
