i really miss this feature as well.

i abandoned amarok quite a while ago, but i remember there being a variety of convenient ways to rate the song currently playing.

* the notifier in the menu had a stars-bar attached where you could rate the song much like explained here:

however this doesn't appear to work on natty

* in the player, the top bar, displaying the controls and the currently played song, also had a star-bar attached to it

and my favourite:
* you are able to bind global keyboard shortcuts that would assign a specific rating to the currently played song. e.g. i had ctrl+mod+1 through 5 to rate. again, this worked globally, not only in the player.

so consider this a bump :)
