Bug Description

There are no driver for Canon PIXMA ip1000 printer in official Ubuntu repositories.
Up to Ubuntu Hardy Heron, the printer PIXMA iP1000 works using the drivers from http://mambo.kuhp.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~takushi/
However, upon installing Karmic Koala, installation from this repository no longer works, drivers can't be installed - dependencies are broken.
Working solution for lots Canon printers and multifunctions is described here: http://ubuntuportal.com/how-to-install-canon-printer-driver-for-linux-ubuntu/
All Canon printer drivers also will be included into official Baltix GNU/Linux repository - http://ftp.akl.lt/Linux/Baltix/Baltix-Ubuntu-packages/
See bug #959043 for more info.

[SOLVED]
I tried it on Lucid, based on deb link from
http://josiahjared.wordpress.com/2006/11/30/canon-pixma-ip1000-drivers/

the answer is in "6. Fix libs" with a little correction (libpng12.so.0 is located in /lib not /usr/lib)
sudo ln -s /lib/libpng12.so.0 /usr/lib/libpng.so.2
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libtiff.so.4 /usr/lib/libtiff.so.3
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2 /usr/lib/libxml.so.1

ah by the way,
when installing it complains that bjfilter-common needs libcupsys2
but libcups2 conflicts with libcupsys2

the answer is to install from commandline using
sudo dpkg --force-depends -i *.deb
