Adding ayatana-design as this sounds like something they'd want to weigh in on.

Well, the screensaver is managed by gnome-screensaver, not indicator-session. So, I guess there's no point of the Ayatana-design tag. But I'll leave it there, in case a designer has a point against this.

I think this is already the default behaviour for 12.04. However it would be nice if the screen faded to black rather than instantly switched.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

I would also like to see the keyboard backlight and any additional lights turned off. No reason for those things draining the battery after the user locks the keyboard.

Actually, I noticed that the normal screen saver (activated by the OS after no activity for a certain time, not manually activated using e.g. `gnome-screensaver-command -a` or `xset dpms force off`) successfully turns off keyboard backlight and additional lights (e.g. the Apple logo light on the back of Macbooks).

Maybe it would be enough to make the lock screen command activate the screen saver in the same manner the OS activates it after a certain amount of non-activity.
