Bug Description

So, I'm having this issue in Firefox 29.

The Searchbar autosizer is supposed to size itself exactly to what I write in it, but it keeps adding that extra padding sporadically. When this happens, the option "Autosizer preferences" disappears from the searchbar drop down menu.

That is strange. It appears if Autosizer is being disabled. Can you consistently reproduce the bug? If you can please provide the steps. Also does this issue occur in a clean profile with no other addons?

Lastly could you provide the version of Searchbar Autosizer and your operating system.

Thanks, Kevin

I started up a clean profile, Firefox 29, Windows 8 (but have been experiencing this on 7 as well), and only added the Autosizer 2.1.0 extension.

After doing only one google search, and customizing the appearance by moving some toolbar buttons around...the searchbar forced the added padding, and the option for Autosizer Preferences was gone.

Does this happen only after moving toolbar buttons around? Also does
the searchbar still resize when you change the text in the searchbar.

What settings are you using. If you could provide an ADIC[0] dump it
would be very helpful.

Upon further investigation, you only have to activate the customize mode, and disable it for the bug to happen.
It still resizes for each letter added or removed in the searchbar, just with the extra 150px or so of padding added, and the options removed from the drop down menu.

What exactly do you mean by customize mode?

In Fx29, when you go to customize the toolbars. This works completely different from how customizing the toolbars works in Fx4-28.

Yup, I can reproduce. Thanks for finding this.

I have looked into this and some of the items get changed when the toolbar is customized. I don't know how to detect this so for now you will just have to restart the browser or open another window after customizing the toolbar.

If it means anything, yours isn't the only add on that breaks. Add Bookmark Here is another one. You can't bookmark pages after opening / closing the customize option.
Hopefully a fix for this phenomenon gets posted at mozillazine or something.
