Bug Description

I converted several videos for use on the iPod and then copied them over via gtkpod. When I attempt to play the videos on the iPod, I get a black screen for about 10 seconds and then it returns to the list of videos. The video never starts playing. I have no problem playing other MP4 files that I transfer over. Only the ones converted by Arista fail to play.

Which iPod do you have? I've tested and it works on an iPod Video, iPod Touch, and iPhone 3G.

I'm not sure which one it is. It's an older 80GB iPod with a color video screen at the top and and touch wheel at the bottom. The model number on the back is A1136.

I forgot to add that I'm using version 0.9.3 on Ubuntu 10.04. The converted videos play fine on my desktop.

Same here. I have an iPod 5G (model xA003/A1136, 1st gen video, white, 60GB).
Videos converted with Arista just result in a black screen for a couple of seconds.

Any clues as to what might be the problem? I have stumbled across a statement
that H.264 videos can only be 320x240 res, so I have tweaked the Arista presets
to only produce 320x240 videos, but that didn't help. :-(

Is there any information that would help you troubleshoot this?

Thanks a lot!

Cheers,
Toby.

I forgot... For the record, I'm running Arista 0.9.5 (xubuntu Maverick).

Again, for the record, the problem still exists on xubuntu Natty (11.04, Arista 0.9.6).

Is there any news at all on this matter?

Cheers,
Toby.

Again, for the record, the problem persists with firmware version 1.3.
