Bug Description
Binary package hint: amarok
Some weeks ago everything was working fine. Now I have some serious problems with sound. There are 2 different scenarios:
1) I select 'pulseaudio' as phonon back-end
- Amarok works fine, NEVER stops playing and amarok audio works flawlessly...
- Only a side effect: EVERY system sound (beeps, flash, other player) can't play any more, is just muted. Pulseaudio (I don't use it in my system, I have manually installed and configured ALSA) steals audio to the whole system
2) I select 'hda Intel (ALC889 Analog) as phonon back-end
- Amarok works integrated to the whole system sounds (no conflicts) but...
- After I push play/stop 3 or 4 times or when a new song begins... An error message appears (notification) saying the hda Intel (ALC889 Analog) back-end does not work anymore and it must use pulseaudio...
- THEN amarok is muted, I have to quit (killall amarok, since its process stays alive) and run again, falling back to problem 1)
Please note until some week ago everything was working fine!!! I think I was always using HDA Analog backend and no problem occurred before... Recently I have updated alsa to 1.0.20, but also all the other packages have been updated... I have *NO CLUE*.

I've filed another bug about a similar case. Later I've found out that Amarok has something to do with this. Amarok works always, but it is the one that breaks the sound from other applications.
