Bug Description

I can activate HDMI output on a running ac100 or boot with HDMI cable plugged. Howewer the resolution of my external 1680x1050 (16:10) screen would always be limited to 640x480 (4:3). I cannot change this value.

Screen detection would not be possible. The external screen remains <unknown>

Attached file is a Xorg.0.log with external screen plugged on boot.

what if you plug it in after boot, do you get the same behavior ?
might be that reading the EDID data does not work properly if you have connected HDMI on boot.

I checked that again. Unfortunately same behaviour.

First time I plugged HDMI I even had a picture in picture situation,
the external screen showing 640x480 pixel of the ac100 screen. But the
option 'same image in all monitors' of the Monitor preferences GUI was
greyed out.

I then managed to separate the screens, but still I have no
possibilities to modify the resolution of the external screen.

I ask myself if the 16:10 screen is the source of the problem...

Plug & Play DDC2B Feature

This monitor is equipped with VESA DDC2B capabilities according to the VESA DDC STANDARD. It allows the monitor to inform the
host system of its identity and, depending on the level of DDC used, communicate additional information about its display capabilities.
The DDC2B is a bi-directional data channel based on the I2C protocol. The host can request EDID information over the DDC2B
channel.

Same problem here. Plugged in while Xorg was running. I was able to set a higher resolution through sysfs, but that corrupted the framebuffer. Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 2443 B

kernel 2.6.38 has better support for EDID reading. It reads out EDID data correctly from my monitor (Lenovo 1920x1200), but also fails to set the correct resolution (only 1024x768). This may be a limitation of the (alpha status) tegra driver.

My test was partially sucessfull.
The setting was Ogra's 2.6.38 installation, Tegra 12 Alpha video driver, DVI-d to HDMI adaptor and a Dell P2311H monitor.
I've booted with the monitor pluged in, and it correctly displayed 1920x1200.
Although really slow I was surprised by the GPU of this machine.
The monitor showed all the screen while the display had an upper left clipping of it.

I also switched to the 2.6.38 kernel from the ac100 ppa. In my my
case, even though there is a slight improvement of image quality on
the ac100, the main issue remains unsolved.

My screen is not recognized correctly and would only display 640x480.
We will see if a newer nvidia-tegra driver will change that situation.
